TWO VICE MAYOR CANDIDATES IN MT. PROVINCE ARE UNOPPOSED
BONTOC, Mt. Province– The municipalities of Bauko and Besao have an unopposed candidate for the vice mayoralty race in the May 2013 elections.
Based on the report of the Provincial Comelec office here, these unopposed candidates are incumbent vice mayor Harry Baliaga of Besao and mayor Simon Lacwasan of Bauko whose third term as mayor ends on June 30, 2013.
In the province, there are 30 aspirants in the mayoralty race for the ten municipalities with the municipality of Sabangan having the most in number with six (6) candidates followed by Barlig with four. Of the 30 aspirants are eight incumbent mayors seeking for re-election.
In the municipality of Barlig, the position of mayor Edmundo Sidchayao who filed his candidacy in the Sangguniang Bayan is being contested by vice mayor Pio Cupasan (independent), Heraldo Lamaton (Liberal Party), Simon Layong (Liberal Party) and incumbent Councilor Clark Ngaya (independent). Candidates for vice mayor are incumbent councilors Fernando Cablog and Genesis Changilan, and Lambert Llopis all independent while 36 candidates are contesting for the eight seats for councillor.
In Bauko, the position of mayor Simon Lacwasan is being contested by vice mayor Rodolfo Patnaan (independent), incumbent boardmember Salvador Dalang (Liberal Party), and Abraham Akilit (Liberal Party). There are 24 candidates for the eight seats for councilor.
In Besao, incumbent mayor Wellington Pooten (Liberal Party) is challenged by Go Kiley Martin (independent) while 18 candidates contest for the 8 Sangguniang Bayan (SB) seats.
Incumbent mayor Pascual Sacgaca of Bontoc (Liberal Party) of Bontoc is being contested by former mayor Franklin Odsey while incumbent vice mayor William Aspilan is being contested by Peter Puma-at and incumbent councillor Ignacio Afidchao.
There are 25 candidates aspiring for the 8 SB seats.
In Natonin, it is a fight between incumbent mayor Mateo Chiyawan (Liberal Party) and Djarma Rafael (PDP-UNA). For the vice mayoralty race, it is a fight between incumbent Abel Bagsao (Liberal Party) and incumbent councilor Leonel Dulay (independent) while 31 candidates are aspiring for the 8 seats for councilor. Incumbent mayor Avelino Amangyen (Liberal Party) of Paracelis is contested by Gavino Bucok. In the vice mayoralty race, it is a fight between incumbent Norma Enriqueta Rafael (UNA) and incumbent councillor Lorenzo Carpio (Liberal Party) while 26 candidates are aspiring for the eight SB seats.
In Sabangan, incumbent mayor Donato Danglose is being contested by incumbent Barangay Chairman Mariano Jr. Teng-eg of barangay Lagan, former municipal ABC president Feliciano Liclic, Pablo Undalos, Benito Jr. Liwan, and Junbert Gunaden. For vice mayoralty race, it is a fight between incumbent Joseph Bernardez and incumbent councilor Enrique Litilit while 21 candidates are aspiring for the 8 seats for councilor. Incumbent mayor Gabino Ganggangan (Liberal Party) of Sadanga is being contested by Geraldo Jr. Ackut and Banat Walis. Incumbent vice mayor Joseph Apopot is being contested by incumbent councilor Albert Ayao-ao (Liberal Party) and Vicente Tic-chap. There are 46 candidates aspiring for the 8 SB seats.
In Sagada, incumbent mayor Eduardo Latawan (Liberal Party) is contested by Joey Taltala (independent) and vice mayor Richard Yodong (LDP-LABAN). For vice mayor, it is contested by John Bagsingit, Benjamin Capuyan, and Jerry Ticag all independent while 31 candidates are contesting for the 8 SB seats.
Incumbent mayor Anthony Wooden (Liberal Party) of Tadian is being contested by former mayor Sorrero Gullod (LDP-LABAN) and Liberato Domingo (independent) while incumbent vice mayor Laurence Atipen (Liberal Party) is contested by Edwin James Baden (independent).
